ARE DOUBLE EXHAUST PIPES JUST FOR LOOKS???

It’s Not Just For Looks

What goes in must go out. This means that your engine, which is like a huge vacuum pump, sucks in air and fuel. An engine like the one in your car has four strokes: Intake, compression, combustion and exhaust. Once the air and fuel are pulled into the engine (intake), the piston comes up to compress the mixture to make it more volatile (compression). The spark plug fires and causes an explosion in the cylinder (combustion). However, not all of the fuel and air is used. This leftover mixture must make its way out of the engine to make room for a new wave to start. This is the exhaust stroke – the leftover gas and air are forced out of the cylinder through the exhaust valves, into the exhaust manifold and out through the exhaust system.

MERCEDES EASILY SITS TOP SPOT IN THE LUXURY CLASS. THE S IS LUXURY FOR A NEW ERA.

Review

What is it?

No ifs ands or buts the benchmark huge extravagance cantina, the one Audi, BMW, Lexus, Cadillac and even Jaguar and Maserati must characterize themselves by and be measured against. This auto characterizes the segment and is the one all others attempt to topple. Also, neglect to.

Energetic execution and dealing with are de-underscored this time – it’s about solace, security and driver help. There are two wheelbases, the long one offering dumbfounding secondary lounge comfort. Powertrains incorporate ordinary V6 diesel and V8 turbo petroleum, and half breeds in both four-chamber diesel and V6 oil frames. The body utilizes a considerable measure of aluminum to pare weight underneath the last one.

Driving

How is it out and about?

This is not a connecting with drive. It’s tied in with astonishing quietness and ride suppleness. The diesel V6 is superbly fit for getting along intelligently, and the versatile dampers secure it where required. However, the guiding has no vibe – its trademark is huge directional soundness at high speeds. The V8’s completely dynamic suspension is ordinarily considerably milder yet has a selectable mode that will erase roll and understeer.

Alternatives incorporate cameras and radars so your S-Class will take after the auto ahead and see lines out and about, naturally quickening, braking and notwithstanding controlling, however it objects with flashes and bongs in the event that you grasp your hands off the wheel past a couple of moments. It’s long-travel driver bolster, not self-ruling self-driving.

Within

Format, complete and space

The dash’s two gigantic instrument and show screens are all lucidity and rationale. They’re set in flawlessly worked cowhide, wood and metal. Most ergonomics are simply so. We can’t think about a comfier inside, front or back. The LWB variant can be specced with raise situates that back rub, warmth, vent and lean back most of the way to level, with air ship like leg-rests.

Raise diversion is exceptionally far reaching and legroom simply huge. The V8’s dynamic suspension has an alternative that utilizations binocular vision to see hindrances and lift each wheel as they go underneath. The outcome is close wonderful.

Owning

Running expenses and unwavering quality

S-Classes have dependably been about the most secure autos of their periods; no change there at that point. It’s greater than earlier (observe tight auto parks), yet the styling is genuinely unobtrusive so it shouldn’t make you abhorred. The V8 is unadulterated liberality so overlook the expenses. The V6 diesel gives lowish devaluation in case you’re cautious with alternatives, and is exceptionally niggardly: 6.8 sec to 62mph yet CO2 of only 146g/km; 51mpg out of an auto of this class is astonishing. The half breed diesel makes a surprising trade off of 7.6sec and 115g/km, yet do you truly need a four-chamber diesel in your S-Class? If not, attempt the module cross breed, the world’s initial 100mpg limo. On paper, if not by and by, but rather think about the corporate brownie focuses you’ll get for beating the reps.

2019 Audi A8 First Look

Flagship sedan enters new generation with plenty of tech treasures

The Mercedes S-Class is the well-established leader of full-size luxury sedans, but Audi might succeed at closing the gap with its fourth-generation A8. In addition to a new mild hybrid system, the 2019 Audi A8 receives highly automated driving technology and a striking touchscreen-centric interior.

German automakers are often reluctant to dramatically overhaul their design languages, but the styling of the new A8 is noticeably different from the previous generation. A wider, hexagonal-shaped grille complements HD Matrix LED headlights with laser technology. Taking cues from the Audi Prologue concept from 2014, the model features slim taillights and a lighting bar extending across the rear.

Inside the cabin, the Audi A8 features touch points that replace the array of buttons from the previous model. A 10.1-inch touchscreen sits up front and center, and a second touchscreen below allows occupants to control air conditioning and other comfort functions. A new navigation system takes information from routes recently driven and provides the driver with intelligent search suggestions.

Audi says the “classiest” seat in its new flagship is the optional “relaxation” seat in the right rear of the vehicle. Here, there’s a special unit that can warm and massage the soles of a passenger’s feet. The passenger also benefits from a comfort headrest, massaging seats, and a separate operating unit for making private phone calls.

As previously announced, Audi is introducing its new piloted driving technology to the A8. A feature called “traffic jam pilot” controls starting, accelerating, steering, and braking so that drivers can take their hands off the wheel when they’re stuck in slow-moving traffic on the highway. Audi says drivers can even watch the onboard TV if that kind of activity is permitted by local laws, but they must be prepared to take back control of the vehicle when the system has reached its limits. The feature uses radar sensors, a front camera, ultrasonic sensors, and a pioneering laser scanner to drive autonomously at speeds up to 37.3 mph. In addition to the traffic jam technology, the A8 can also autonomously steer itself into and out of a parking space. Audi will roll out these autonomous features starting in 2018.

Globally, Audi will offer a host of engine options, including a 3.0-liter TFSI V-6 with 340 hp, a 4.0-liter TFSI V-8 with 460 hp, and a 6.0-liter W-12 with 585 hp (for the A8 L). Diesel models are available in the form of a 3.0-liter TDI making 286 hp and a 4.0-liter TDI with 435 hp. In the U.S., the 3.0-liter turbo V-6 will serve as the launch engine for the 2019 A8.

To reduce consumption, all of these engines will feature mild hybrid technology with a 48-volt electrical system. A 48-volt lithium-ion battery is located in the trunk compartment, and a water-cooled belt alternator starter sits up front. The A8 can enter coasting mode while traveling at speeds between 34.2 mph and 99.4 mph, and it can continue coasting for up to 40 seconds with the engine turned off. Once the driver steps on the gas again, the BAS brings the engine back up to the desired speed without delay. Also, the start/stop function has predictive convenient starting, allowing the engine to start as soon as the vehicle in front of the A8 moves even if the driver is still pressing the brakes. Along with the mild hybrid models, a plug-in hybrid A8 L is also in the works.

Suspension upgrades, such as dynamic all-wheel steering, promise to improve the driving experience. The A8 receives a fully active suspension system that allows the car to raise or lower each wheel separately through electric actuators. With this feature, the A8 can take on the characteristics of a comfortable cruiser or a sports car depending on the driving situation, Audi says.

The 2019 Audi A8 arrives in Germany this fall and will head to the U.S. in the spring or summer after that.
